Urinetown
An award-winning Broadway hit, Musical Theatre International calls it: “One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold…” The story line opens with a twenty-year drought, causing a terrible water shortage, making private toilets unthinkable. 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 4:00 p.m. $25 Adults, $15 Students. 26 Piper Gallery: J.C. Leacock, Photography
Since the beginning of his professional career in 1988, J.C. Leacock has emerged as one of the premier photographers of the American West. His landscape images capture the light, grandeur and intimacy of the West, while his photographic portrayal of western lifestyles is both authentic and spirited. Leacock is widely published nationally, and his images appear in such publications as Outside, Ski, Backpacker, National Geographic Adventure, Sunset and American Cowboy. 25 Alpenglow: Bob Malone
Pianoman and singer Bob Malone fuses jazz, rock ‘n roll, soul and blues into a one of a kind hybrid with pulsating, roaring keyboard work that grabs you and shakes you until you cry for mercy. He is the keyboardist for rock legend John Fogerty and has shared the stage with greats such as Rickie Lee Jones, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Leon Russell and more. 5:30 p.m. Free. 26 Tour de Forks: Adventures in Luxury
This Tour de Forks event features Chef Ashley Odom of Feast and Merriment catering at the Scarp Ridge Lodge in downtown Crested Butte and hosted by The Eleven Experiences, Irwin. Tour de Forks is the delectable, signature fundraising series for the Center for the Arts Crested Butte. Throughout the summer, food and architectural enthusiasts visit a variety of private homes and dine on epicurean delights from accomplished chefs in a diverse menu of events nothing short of culinary and building artistry. 22 – 24 Plein Air Oil Workshop with Kathy Hirsh
Join experienced Plein Air painter and Telluride Ah Haa School for the Arts instructor, Kathy Hirsh, for a weekend of landscape oil painting. Learn about setting up, planning a painting, edges, value, composition, underpainting, keeping it loose, and playing with color. 22 Poi, Awareness, and the Art of Flow
This skill is fun and easy to learn, so come and learn basic principles such as; poi mentality, balance, smoke and mirrors, planes, interpretive/ecstatic, glow/flow basics, with the opportunity to play with fire if you like after each class! 25 Where a Line May Lead You: A Day of Poetry & Drawing
Poets often think of a line as a breath unit. Visual artists use a line to communicate what they perceive about their environment – internal and external. In poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and painter Meredith Nemirov’s class, a line – whether it be of poetry or an expressive graphite mark – becomes a unit of play. 27 Evening Pastel Still Life Drawing
Telluride Ah Haa School for the Arts instructor Kathy Hirsh teaches the always important basic drawing skills and learning to see shape, value, edges and color through the study of still life. She’ll discuss composition, how to start, doing thumbnails, under-painting and the all important – when to stop.
