Yoga Rocks the Butte is coming to beautiful Crested Butte, Colorado in February 2012! This inaugural winter festival is the first ever yoga winter festival, as well as the first yoga festival that includes programming for kids and teens. Enjoy yoga, music, & meditation as well as world class skiing, snowboarding and other winter activities in “Colorado’s last great ski town.” This event to benefit non-profit organization, Yoga World Reach, features Shiva Rea, Micheline Berry, Govindas, and many more. Concerts and live music from some of the most popular kirtan musicians in the yoga industry such as Dave Stringer, Steve Gold, and more. There will be a variety of stimulating workshops, a vendor village with socially conscious retail companies from the yoga industry, as well as the opportunity for winter sports, all at the beautiful Crested Butte Mountain Resort with lift access just steps outside the festival doors!

FAQ About Yoga Rocks the Butte

When do the yoga classes happen?
Classes run from 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday.

Where are the classes?
All of the main classes are in the Elevation Hotel and The Lodge at Mountaineer Square at the base of the ski resort in Mt. Crested Butte.  Some community classes will be held in Crested Butte at Yoga for the Peaceful.

How do I book my classes?
Festival tickets can be purchased at www.yogarocksthebutte.com.

What times are classes?
General Times are: 6:30-7:30 a.m., 8:30-10:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1:30-3:30p.m., & 4-6 p.m. with Music events in the evenings.  The main presenters will have the morning and late afternoon classes to leave time open for those who want to enjoy skiing and outdoor winter activities.

Are music and evening events included?
YES! Music and evening events are included in your Festival Pass.

Will there be all levels classes?
YES!

What is Yoga World Reach (the non-profit that the event is benefitting)?
Yoga World Reach is a Colorado Non-profit 501c3, organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, more specifically to perform the following:

• to research and practice ways that yoga, meditation, and alternative therapies can inclusively serve the local and global communities.

• to educate and empower Yoga Teachers to inclusively serve the local and global communities, via our Yoga Seva School, and provide yoga outreach in third world countries.

• to co-create yoga programs for correctional facilities, crisis prevention centers, women’s shelters, schools, health care facilities and practitioners, rehabilitation centers, homeless shelters, and those with special needs.

What is kirtan?
Kirtan is call-and-response chanting from the Bhakti tradition of yoga, is very inspiring, and enjoyable for the whole family and all spiritual traditions.

What styles of yoga will be offered?

Where is registration and what are the hours?
Registration will be in the lobby of the Elevation hotel and will open every morning at 7 a.m.

Will we have time to ski?
We created the schedule so that you could buy half-day lift tickets and take 2 yoga classes the other half of the day!

Are there kids yoga classes and programs?
YES! Every day there will be programming for kids 2-17.  Check out the Kids page for a schedule.

Is there babysitting available?
Information for Mountain Mamas, the local nanny service is on the Kids page, as well as a world-class ski school program.

Where can we eat on of the mountain?
There are many restaurants in Mt. Crested Butte including 9380, at the Elevation Hotel.

Are massages/spa services available?
YES!  There is a spa at the Elevation Hotel where discounted services will be available.  There will also be multiple healing/bodywork sessions available in the Marketplace.

Is there alcohol at the event?
There won’t be any alcohol served at the event, although there are full service restaurants and bars throughout the base area and town. View the Crested Butte Restaurant Guide for a complete list of dining and nightlife.

How do we get from the airport to Mt. Crested Butte?
There are shuttle services available from the Gunnison airport and the Montrose airport through the Alpine Express. Call 1-888-559-0841 for reservations.  From Denver we recommend renting a car.
