30 Elephant Revival
The instrumentally dexterous Elephant Revival play everything from djembe and electric banjo to musical saw. Their flexibility goes even further with originals that snap and sparkle with ele-ments of traditional balladry, Scottish-Celtic fiddle, psychedelic old-time indie rock, rustic Americana, world beat, ’40s-’50s jazz and hip-hop. Get ready for a foot-stomping hootenanny. Before the show, join the Mountain Roots Food Project for a “Once in a Blue Moon” Community Meal / Local Foods Potluck. 30 Artist Opening Reception with Ivy Walker
Ivy Walker creates temporary artworks in the land and document these through photographs. A delicate, visual language is formed and speaks of connection and tenuousness. Her artwork points to a gentle dialog with the land and seeks to influence an underlying consciousness about how we see and relate with the landscapes that surround our lives. The Art Studio of the Center for the Arts offers private art lessons for children and adults and is equipped to help you throw a
private educational art event such as: a ladies’ painting night;
jewelry making birthday party; learn to throw on the wheel; get instruction in watercolor, oil, or acrylic painting; learn how to make jewelry; go out in the field with a pro photographer; or learn how to draw! Shared Artist’s Space
If you’re looking for an affordable place to work on your art and a community of artists to work with, then become a Member of the Shared Artist’s Space (SAS). Membership includes: access to studio space seven days a week; personal storage for art supplies and works in progress; access to potter’s wheels, slab roller, wedging table, and basic ceramics tools and supplies; use of kiln, access to a community of artists, and the potential to show and sell your work at ASCA. 2 heART + LAND: Creating Transformative Art-works in the Landscape
With local artist Ivy Walker participants will engage the landscape in a respectful way to create transformative art work. Using mixed media and natural elements, participants will playfully explore creating temporary art in the landscape. Transformative artwork initiates an interesting, new perspective on how to approach crea-tivity and the results make tangible the inner workings of the heart. Presented by the Crested Butte Dance Collective. Learn how to climb the aerial fabric, move with grace on the aerial hoop & tra-peze. In this class you will gain core strength, balance, and coordi-nation while having a great time. Each week we will progress to new tricks and all levels are welcome.
